Generals 2 Fact Roundup!

Now that the dust is beginning to settle over Generals 2, a few facts have emerged – although take these with a pinch of salt as the game won’t come out for at least another 14 to 24 months.

  • The GLA is back.
  • The European Union looks to be a faction.
  • This game will feature “classic” C&C-style; action[1] (as opposed to C&C4;’s gameplay) – though whether this refers to Generals-style or the C&C; we all know and love remains to be seen).
  • The game is powered by EA’s Frostbite 2 engine.
  • The Frostbite engine means that the game will not run on Windows XP due to its DirectX 10 requirements[2]
  • The game is being developed by BioWare – please take your complaints of heresy to the forums, thank you.
  • The release date is (for now) somewhere in 2013 – going by the enormous amount of detail present in the trailer’s actual game footage the amount of manpower involved must be staggering so this is unsurprising albeit disappointing.

That’s all we know for now – stay tuned!

Atomic Gamer previews Two Worlds II

Editors of Atomic Gamer, UGO’s network gaming portal, were able to attend a Two Worlds II presentation with Southpeak. They don’t really say anything new, but add another positive voice into the ever-growing pool of positive vibes surrounding the title. Two new things may be gleaned from very careful reading though. Apparently, despite what was said in a few earlier previews, you WILL be able to craft your own items from scratch. In addition, the previewers were able to see some of the spellcrafting system in action, and apparently, you can summon the "trash" used in physical impact spells (e.g. in the spells akin to "Trash Vortex" – for which we just got a new video showing it in action). The previewers are quite impressed by the game’s overall feel – so much so, they actually recommend it not just for the "campy feel" lovers or hardcore fans. Despite the recent infos about game’s release being pushed back to January next year, Atomic Gamer confirms the US/UK release on October 5th.

Carver’s Craziest Caribbean Creations #3 – Surf

Okay, so here’s the deal. Over the years that we’ve spent with the Far Cry series we feel like we’ve gotten to know Jack Carver fairly well. His likes, his dislikes, what makes him laugh, how he likes his coffee; needless to say we feel like we’ve gotten inside the man’s head a bit. Therefore, we think it only right that we be the ones to bestow the label of "Carver’s Craziest Caribbean Creations" on some select, user-created, maps. Click here to submit your content!

Now for the third entry in our series:

Surf by the eloquently named Sucktude. This is one of the most recent maps in our database to include screenshots, we’ll have to dig deeper into our bag of tricks next time. This map is made for use with Far Cry Instincts Predator, so hop online and download Surf from Sucktude!

Sucktude’s Description

This is a faithful remake of the very popular Far Cry PC map named Surf. i made this map with authentisity in mind. some weapons had to be replaced while some structures just couldnt be made with the Instincts Predetor Brush set but i improvised on most. this map is able to be played on any game mode. Also, the game runs a bit faster than in most levels due to the little use of land mass thus making the frame rate go higher to almost 60 Frames Per Second. For thos who dont know what that means, your game will run smoother and faster when you play. this may only be for the host but it may be for all players.

This will be a weekly thing – not unlike our previous Map of the Week installments – but don’t expect a write up. What you will get is screens of your map, (again, only maps with screens will be considered) the name of your map, and your user name on our front page.

The next installment will grace our front page next weekso everyone will have plenty of time to submit your content!
