Blizzard wanted to get out to us a little clarification regarding the Warlock's Life Tap...
There were some questions about what is calculated first; bonus from Improved Life Tap, or +damage, so here you go: The effects from The Felheart and Plagueheart sets and from the Improved Life Tap talent are all applied AFTER spell damage has been calculated. No other talents or set bonuses have any effect on the calculation.

Another question was whether Life Tap is supposed to consume a charge from the Zandalarian Hero Charm: Life Tap benefits from and uses charges of the Zandalarian Hero Charm as well as the Talisman of Ascendance.
    Thanks

Aeus from Blizzard EU wanted to share this bit of info about a recent hotfix...
We have implemented a hotfix to all realms during today's maintenance which we had originally scheduled to release with patch 1.12 that changes the functionality of temporary item buffs (e.g. poisons, sharpening stones and shaman weapon buffs.)

While we only just recently allowed the effects of these temporary item buffs to persist upon zoning and logging out, due to the extra demand it was placing on our hardware we've decided that for the time being, it was best to revert the change.

Please note: We do anticipate this functionality will be available again once the anticipated hardware upgrades have been completed in preparation for the Burning Crusade's release.
    Thanks

Vaeras of Blizzard shed some light on what the rules will most likely be for the up coming arena battles that are coming with The Burning Crusade.
With the upcoming expansion we will be introducing arena battles and to give you a better idea of what to expect, here are the rules:
    •  You do not talk about arena battles.
    • When a player enters an arena battle, all buffs and conjured items are purged/deleted. This is done to ensure no outside buffs or items from members outside of your team are able to be used in an arena battle.
    • No consumables other than bandages and conjured items can be used while in the arena. There will be a waiting area similar to the current battlegrounds where players on the team will be able to conjure items and cast buffs.
    • Abilities/spells/items with cooldowns longer than 15 minutes cannot be used while in the arena.
    • Each arena team will be given a rating, and will be matched up in the arena queue against teams of a similar rating. As time progresses the matching system will broaden its search up to a limit if a closely rated team cannot be found.
    • Ratings adjustments are made in the same way that ELO ratings adjustments are made. This system works by adjusting each arena teams rating from a specific match based on the rating of the team they are up against. If a team wins against a team of a higher rating, the increase of their arena rating would be much higher than if they had won against a team of a lower rating. This system will help promote players improving their skill and besting teams which may have previously held the top spots.
    • At the end of each week, characters receive arena points based on their team's rating. A team must have fought a minimum number of battles for the week, which we have announced as currently set to 10 games. A player must have played in at least 30% of the team’s battles that week in order to be eligible to receive arena points. Each eligible player will then receive a fraction of the team’s total awarded points to spend on arena rewards.
    • Players may spend their points on arena rewards, or save their points until they have enough to get the rewards they desire.
    • There is a limit to the number of points a player can stockpile, which is currently planned to be as high as the most expensive item.
    • At the end of a season, players on a team are given a title based on their team’s relative position on the ladder which will last through the next arena season.
    Thanks

    TCG Preview  [ 4 Comments ]

Yupperz, another preview segment from the guys at Upperdeck for the official Trading Card Game that will be coming our way. This time its about Battle of Darrowshire...

You and a group of your choosing must watch over a reenactment of the ancient Battle of Darrowshire in the Eastern Plaguelands. You must protect Davil Lightfire and Captain Redpath, who must remain alive until you can fulfill certain quest objectives. Davil Lightfire has to stick around until your group can find and slay Horgus the Ravager, a rather vicious level 60 undead. Captain Redpath can’t bite the dust until you escort him far enough that he undergoes the transformation into Redpath the Corrupted. Ironically, you then have to knock off Redpath to fulfill the quest objective. So basically, you have to keep Redpath alive just long enough for you to waste him once he cops a bad attitude.

    GameSpy Preview
    Print News | Mail News
The good guys over at GameSpy recently published their preview of the latest build of The Burning Crusade. Go check it...

The raiding scene in World of Warcraft is going to dramatically change once Burning Crusade is released. Here's the long and short of it: All of the new high-end raid content will be capped at 25 heads. Indeed, all the raid content that was mentioned in today's demo, with the exception of Kharazan (which is designed for 10 players) is being designed around a force of 25. Blizzard has completely done away with 40-man raiding; Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and Naxxrammas will still exist, of course. There just isn't going to be any new 40-man content. How's that for earth-shattering?

An Interview With Blizzard Chief Mike Morhaime  [ 12 Comments ]
    Print News | Mail News
Mercury News has published a pretty good interview with Blizzards main man, Mike Morhinme. Go give it a read...

Q: What’s it like to have the big hit game?

A: It’s awfully exciting. The success of World of Warcraft has really accelerated the growth of the company. It’s opening a lot of doors, getting us a lot of attention from people who may not have played games before or heard of Blizzard, which is great. I think the timing couldn’t have been better in launching the game. The ten years leading up to World of Warcraft laid the foundation with really loyal fans. I couldn’t be happy with how things are going.

The Burning Crusade Details  [ 2 Comments ]

The Mercury News publication posted a little something-something about The Burning Crusade. Drop by and give it a quick read...

I don't know when, but The Burning Crusade expansion pack for World of Warcraft is coming by the end of the year. The beta starts soon, but I got a sneak peek at it this week from lead designer Tom Chilton and PR man Shon Damron. They walked through a description of it and passed along these details and screen shots for the new world. WoW, of course, is the smash hit of online role-playing games with more than 6.5 million paying subscribers worldwide. When this expansion pack hits, it's going to suck away a lot of gaming time from anything else in the blast zone. Here are some screen shots and a description of what's new.

    Burning Crusade Preview  [ 1 Comment ]
    Print News | Mail News
G-spot has published their The Burning Crusade review for anyone interested....

For starters, two major changes are being made to PvP: one, the game's existing "honor" system is being revamped so that it will no longer be a competitive ladder. Instead, players will be able to, according to lead game designer Tom Chilton, earn honor "at their own pace," and use their honor points as currency to spend on rewards. Secondly, Burning Crusade will add an all-new form of PvP: an arena combat system, which lets players form teams of two to five players and go up against other teams in designated arenas.
