Hey Guys,

So I finally got my copy of MW2 in the post. Just played through singleplayer, which means my review of the game will be up soon-ish. But in the meantime I'm working on the MW2 section updating weapons ect.
Also I'm working on getting some featured mods on the go, the first one should be up later today or tomorrow.

Thats a quick update from me.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say Happy Holidays from me here at Planet Call of Duty! I'll be gone until the 5th of January with limited connection to the internet, but knowing the fact that most developers are on Holiday, I assume it's safe to say that there will probably be no major new news until after I get back.

But do keep an eye out on twitter just incase there are any updates in regards to "patches" for Modern Warfare 2 by watching Rob "FourZeroTwo" Bowling's tweets.

Happy Holidays and safe travels to everyone!

Thanks everyone, see you in the new year!

Over at Infinity Ward's forums, Foruzerotwo has posted that a Playlist Update has hit the consoles about the apparent unlimited ammo hack for Chopper Gunners.
Here's what he had to say:
You may notice a playlist update today on Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3. This update adds preventative measures that restrict a recent "Chopper Gunner ammo for all weapons" hack from spreading into public matchmaking.

We'll continue to monitor and work to keep games as cheating free and fair as possible.

This specific hack isn't on PC, however banning cheaters via VAC on PC is a continual effort and focus of ours nonetheless.

We'll keep you up to date in the new year about everything Call of Duty.

"Hey Europe, the #CoDWaW Map Pack Bundle should be available in your territories now - grab it if you still need the DLC!" - JD_2020

Go and grab it!

According to a blog over at, Activision is planning a November release for Call of Duty 7, which they believe would take place in Vietnam.
Here's a quote:
Sources tell CVG that Call of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch have set a tentative release date of November for the acclaimed shooter’s seventh installment. Continuing the series’ cinema-inspired presentation, the game is expected to borrow heavily from films such as Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket (Can you say R. Lee Ermey as a drill instructor?).

Two things: One, November sounds reasonable, it is the Call of Duty series and it is Activision. Two, we haven't heard anything official about where the setting is for the next instalment of Call of Duty, so just take it as a rumor.

We'll keep you up to date on all of your Call of Duty news and about anything we hear in regards to Call of Duty 7 rumors... Vietnam does sound cool though...

It must be rumor day...

This is a good one (for those of you who thought the end of MW2 was open and wanted to finish the story eventually... don't read this...) apparently Infinity Ward, according to, is not in fact working on Modern Warfare 3 but "is instead working on something “completely new”."

That is really about it as far as the news goes on this rumor... Everything else is stuff we might have guessed... Like the Sledgehammer studio working on Call of Duty, which by the way hasn't been confirmed (or denied...)

Here's a new one for you... Our parent site,, is reporting that Infinity Ward is recruiting people with an MMO background.
This one's a doozy. Infinity Ward is allegedly recruiting new staff from the likes of Sony Online Entertainment with a view to developing a new massively multiplayer game based on its highly popular Call of Duty franchise. According to a rumor-riddled article read over on D'toid, the shooter dev might also be getting a hand from Bizzard too.
We've gotten word that IW is hiring people from Sony Online Entertainment, one of which may be the lead designer of EverQuest II, and that a member of Blizzard employees may also be involved to help Infinity Ward get this new title off the ground. Our Intel seems to indicate that Call of Duty will continue as an annual franchise while IW runs this MMO alongside it.
This rumor came in after a different rumor (surfacing yesterday on VG247) did the rounds which stated that Infinity Ward might not be working on Modern Warfare 3.

Yea, I'm thinking the same thing, 2010 is going to be a rumor filled year.
Stay tuned here for all of your Call of Duty needs!

Thanks to for the news!

The PC version of MW2 has had an update today. Not a big one, but does sort of cover the issues that bug us.
-Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized
-Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry
-Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s
-Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators'
-Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency
-Fixes to prevent various texture and XP hacks
Those Akimbo 1887's bugged me, I'd like to see if this actually worked.

And that's about it other than, according to a source, IW is hard at work just after coming back from their vacation since releasing the game.

IW has tried and tried again to fix it, but to no avail, something happens...
Rob "Fourzerotwo" Bowling posted a tweet stating:
Ugh. This care package exploit is becoming the bane of my existence, but not for long. @infinityward is working on a permanent fix for it.

Yup, it's actually eating away at IW. Hopefully we will see a fix for the exploit, I personally haven't seen it in action.

Hey Everybody!

I've decided to restart the weekly poll here at Planet Call of Duty, and to start off we have a question to you guys, what type of server would you like to see put up by Planet Call of Duty? I'll let this run until the 14th and then change the poll and hopefully get a server up and running.

You can choose from: Call of Duty, United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4:MW, and Call of Duty World at War

Let us know!

Today Acitivion's 4th Quarter and Year End investor conference call took place today, Feb 10th 2010, with a mention of Call of Duty's future.

The summary of Acitivison's Investor Call hints at Call of Duty 7 appearing in 2010.
In calendar year 2010, we expect our net earnings and operating margin growth will be driven by our product slate that includes [...] as well as a diversified lineup based on Activision Publishing's best-selling franchises including Call of Duty...
Rudedog was listening in and heard them hint that the new Call of Duty could show up during the Holiday Season (Nov-Dec).

I started to listen in and the first question I heard was about the leapfrog with IW and TreyArch and the possibility of bringing in another studio -- A summary of their responce: Strategy to annualize the franchise continuing, 2 year developmental period, more developmental ideas, and a mention of subscription based service. They skipped the bit about another studio.

Yes they did mention the success of subscription based service and from what it sounded like, they want to integrate a subscription based service into the Call of Duty franchise. Personally I find this disturbing, but I also realise that the odds are the subscription based Call of Duty's will come out of Infinity Ward rather than both IW and TreyArch together.

So what we have: A new Call of Duty in the Holiday Season of this year. Continuation of the leapfrog with IW and TreyArch and the two year development cycle. Possibility of bringing in a subscription based service to Call of Duty, or a game style to utilize this.

When the full recording is up later, I will listen to it and see if there was anything more.

Kotaku is reporting that the Zombies App for the iPhone is getting the map Verruckt tomorrow.
Map pack Verruckt will come with the same extras that were included with the console version of the downloadable content. That means a Perks a Cola machine loaded with player perks, new weapons, electric barriers and audio for the player characters. The map is based on an insane asylum and is about two times the size of the original map, which came with the purchase of the $10 game..

Now the bad news. The map pack will cost you an extra $5, bumping the total price of the iPhone game to $15 if you want both coop maps.
Yup thats an extra $5 for a map, it's like getting the Map Pack on XBL. Not too bad seeing as it adds some extras found in the original map.

If you have it, tell us if you'll be getting it.
